Giving grace, unlearning, and a NEW CLASS!

My dearest friends -

I hope you are well.

As I have probably mentioned at least 50% of these sporadic newsletters, consistency is not my strong suit.

Awhile ago, somewhere in the social media sphere, I made this statement and a friend commented to tell me me to stop being so hard on myself. While this is absolutely a sentiment that I need to be reminded of and one that I reiterate to others often, I also want to take a moment (here and now) to remind those of you that tend to engage in self-criticism that you are not alone.

Maybe this feels like a weird thing to say and I am, by no means, encouraging you to keep being hard on yourself. But, in my humble opinion, the modern-day barrage of information about wellness and how to care for yourself and engage in positive self-talk (etc., etc., etc.) can be a little overwhelming and contribute to this idea that, by being hard on yourself, you are inherently doing something wrong.

The way I look at it, when you’ve been engaging in negative self-talk or self-criticism your whole life, unlearning those patterns can be…difficult. And those patterns will certainly not be unlearned because someone on the internet (or in-person/real-life) told you to.

A huge part of my message on this platform surrounds the idea of giving oneself grace. So, the next time you are being hard on yourself, try not to beat yourself up for beating yourself up. Try instead to give yourself some grace and remember that these habits are hard to break and something we may never truly master. It is a practice. Something to work towards and expand on. Progress is slow and might not always feel steady or linear.

So, in the interest of practicing what I preach -

No, I am not super consistent with sending out these newsletters. Yes, I feel a little bad about it sometimes. And that’s okay.

Regardless of whether this message resonates or feels incredibly self-indulgent, I would also like to let you all know that there is a new FREE CLASS available on my website. This 60 MINUTE FLOW is focused on stretching, strengthening, and mobilizing the back, abdominals, shoulders, hips, and pelvic floor. You will leave class feeling strong, supple, and connected to your core.

Much love to you all and, as always, never hesitate to reach out.
