I took this picture as my sister and I traveled along Skyline Drive at golden hour on our way back from our family’s farm in Virginia.
For me, time spent at the farm often acts as an important reminder to slow down and enjoy the simple things in life: my Grandma’s blooming daffodils, the slightly greener grass, the smell of the Virginia air, homemade buttered toast, the open sky, and the way the Virginia hills roll on and on for miles. It’s so easy to get caught up in our heads and our busy schedules. Often times, even when I’m presented with an opportunity to unplug, slow down, and be present with an activity, a person, or a moment, I find that my mind automatically jumps to the future and the next thing that I “have to get done.”
If you can find time this week, close your computer, take a break, get outside, smell the fresh air, take several deeps breaths, and if you notice your mind rushing to your “to do” list, take a moment to pause and redirect your focus to your breath and your body. I plan to take my lessons from the farm and do the same. Let’s hold each other accountable!
If you have time, you can further cultivate the ability to be present with your breath and your body by joining me for yoga this week (registration link below). Sunday’s Restorative class will be pre-recorded, the rest will be live on Zoom. 12pm classes can be accessed from 12pm-12am as long as you sign up ahead of time.
Hope you all have a beautiful week xx
